Games are getting seriously close to burying the uncanny valley altogether and jumping out of their screen confines, and the latest Halo 5: Guardians advertisement highlights just that.
Sure, in terms of actual physics that’s near impossible, but culturally, the Halo series has been a gleaming light in Microsoft‘s Xbox gaming arsenal for the best part of 15 years. So much so that it named its Windows 10 personal assistant after one of the characters.

But although Cortana is pretty damn awesome in her own right, what about Master Chief?
The latest Halo 5: Guardians commercial, aired in the US this weekend, highlights Master Chief as a martyr, dying in the line of duty, thus pissing many common folk off enough to, well, cause a right ruckus against the powers that be.
Nevertheless, it’s a great ad and worth a watch, even if you do think the Halo series is overrated.
Halo 5: Guardians will launch on the Xbox One on 27 October.
