If you belong to the “there’s never too many pixels” club and wear your badge with pride, then you’ll love what Sharp plans to do next month.
The Japanese company, known for making some of the world’s best television panels, is outing the world’s first 8K TV next month in its homeland for a cool US$133 000. That’s R1.8-million for you and I down south.

But if you think that number is excessive, consider the sheer size of the LV-85001.
It’s 85-inches from corner to corner and boasts a resolution of 7680×4320, which is 16 times more pixels than a 1920×1080 Full HD display. Additionally, while a Full HD TV requires just one HDMI port to push pictures to the set, Sharp’s LV-85001 requires four of the newer HDMI 2.0 variety.
While we highly doubt that the average person will be saving up for one, Sharp hopes it can push a few to distinct business clients (like high-end graphics professionals) before its launch at the end of October.
