The HTC One A9, the company’s latest stab at the upper-range smartphone market, will arrive in South Africa in December and be available from “selected MTN stores.”

As we wind down the year for the festive season, this desirable and limited edition device would make a much-sought gift,” notes MTN SA’s sales and marketing exec Larry Annetts.

The phone will be the first other than the Nexus and Android One devices to ship with Google’s Android Marshmallow OS ans will being a 5.0-inch screen, a 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC and 16GB worth of internal storage.
The phone will also feature a 13MP rear camera with OIS, with the front camera promising to snap “the best self-portraits in any lighting condition.”
While the specs might seem upper mid-range, the device will sell for R10 199, or R479 per month for 24 months on contract.
