Survival horror action game Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is now available to download on Xbox One. It was originally released as a Live Arcade title on the Xbox 360 in February 2012.

Spotted in ‘Games & Apps’ on the Xbox One today (pictured above), the game is part of the Xbox 360 backward compatibility programme. It should start showing up on consoles around the world, as long as you already own it. American Nightmare is around 2GB in size.

Billed as a spin-off and pseudo-sequel, American Nightmare is a stand-alone title that takes place after the events of Alan Wake. Presented as a fictional TV show — in the same vein as The Twilight Zone — the game follows Wake as he chases down his doppelganger, Mr. Scratch. The story is told using black comedy tropes.

Unlike the original game, American Nightmare is far more action-orientated and boasts an arcade (horde) mode.

Last week, Microsoft announced that Alan Wake’s American Nightmare would be included with Quantum Break Xbox One pre-orders.
