Final Fantasy XV launches 30 September on Xbox One, PS4

This morning’s Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event showed off an incredible amount of content and footage for the upcoming game. So much so that it’s hard not to be excited about it.

During the numerous video trailers, new cities, canyons, mines, and tree houses were featured, with all of it rendered in the gorgeous Luminous Studio. A day-night cycle, which we previously saw in the demo, Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae, was also featured in greater detail, and it looks gorgeous.

Apart from protagonist’s car, which can also fly, the game will also include Chocobos — a series staple — which can drift, of all things, and boats. It harkens back to older titles, which were filled with numerous modes of transportation.

To pass all of those hours away while driving, the game will feature a radio station that plays tunes from previous Final Fantasy titles. Yes, even bits from Final Fantasy XIII will be in it.

Aside from Ramuh, Titan and Leviathan were also show off — they are summon creatures throughout the Final Fantasy series. While no play footage of Leviathan was featured, there were plenty of shots of Titan performing his signature Gia’s Wrath move, which looks very imposing.

What was also show off where the inevitable Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Collector’s Edition versions of the game. While pre-ordering is never the answer with video games, you’d be forgiven for considering these beauties.

The Deluxe Edition includes the Final Fantasy XV video game, the Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV feature-film on a Blu-ray disc, and bonus DLC items all contained within a steel book case decorated by series illustrator Yoshitaka Amano.

Hardcore fans will probably ignore the Deluxe Edition and head straight for the Ultime Collector’s Edition instead. It will include everything contained within the Deluxe Edition with the addition of a hardcover artbook, exclusive steel case, in-game items packs, and a Play Arts Kai Noctis figure. This edition is only available through the Square Enix store and is limited to 30 000 units worldwide.

Final Fantasy XIV will release on 30 September for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
