You can finally play Halo Wars on Xbox One

Microsoft has finally released the most under-rated Halo game for Xbox One owners, Halo Wars. This comes in the company’s latest wave of backwards compatible titles.

Sometimes seen as the black sheep of the Halo franchise (disregarding the Spartan titles), Halo Wars in a real-time strategy (RTS) game that was developed for the Xbox 360. Taking place around 20 years before Halo: Combat Evolved, the game lets players take charge of human marine forces against the Covenant in an all-out war perspective.

What’s notable about Halo Wars is its genre, which strayed from the usual first-person-kill-all-of-the-things mechanics from previous titles. The Xbox 360 console was mostly a stranger to RTS titles, but developer Ensemble Studios showed what could be done with the device’s 512MB of RAM and standard controller.

Along with this fantastic title, fighting games Soulcalibur II HD and The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match are also available for purchase.

As of writing, King of Fighters hasn’t yet shown up on the South African Xbox store.
