If you love your Fitbit fitness tracker but wish that it looked a little more like a smartwatch, you’re in luck. The company’s first crack at the smartwatch game has arrived in South Africa.
Retailing through the iStore for R3999, the Fitbit Blaze is a modular smartwatch that privileges aesthetic appeal above fundamental fitness fanatics. That doesn’t mean it lacks any of those tell tale Fitbit features though.

Heart rate tracking, step tracking, distance monitoring and calories burned are all monitored, and the watch can sync to your smartphone through the Fitbit app.
The app allows a more granular look at your tracked activities and achievements. The Blaze itself also shows current workout information on the fly, and boasts a connected GPS to keep track of the layout of daily runs or travels (you’ll need to keep your phone on you for this, though).
A selection of straps (black and blue, small and large) will also be offered alongside the Blaze, but the watch itself in its standard form will retail for around R3999, the same ballpark as the Garmin Vivosmart HR but slightly cheaper than the Apple Watch Sport.
Visit the iStore’s official website for more information and to cop one if you fancy.
