Do you still own a Nintendo DSi console? It may be time to start thinking about upgrading before you lose access to the store.
Announced on the Nintendo.com website, the company says it’ll finally close down the Nintendo DSi Store in 2017. Users can still purchase points until 30 September and spend them up until 31 March next year.

The company has yet to decide when the hammer will fall on the store, and recommends users upgrade to a newer product in the Nintendo 3DS family — but, of course they do.

The DSi store has been around since 2009, which is when the console launched in North America and Europe.
A successor to the Nintendo DS and DS Lite, the DSi removed the GameBoy Advance slot of previous consoles, but added two cameras, internal storage, and a Micro SD slot. It was the groundwork for the current generation of Nintendo handhelds.
This move does veer into the direction of another big discussion: how viable are digital purchases for consumers if the servers housing them can be shut down?
