Deus Ex: Human Revolution was an excellent return to form for the series, delivering the open-ended gameplay and conspiracy-laden narrative the series is known for.
A sequel, Mankind Divided, is roughly three months away though, and Square Enix has issued a new trailer, curiously titled ‘The Mechanical Apartheid’.

As the trailer’s name suggests, discrimination is a key story element in the new game as laws are enacted against augmented people to keep them separated from others.
The trailer draws a plenty of inspiration from current affairs, featuring anti-augmentation protests (much like anti-immigration pickets), radical political rhetoric (much like Donald Trump and far-right politicians in Europe) and even a guy who bears an eerie resemblance to conspiracy theorist/radio host Alex Jones.
Here’s hoping the game is more Human Revolution and less Invisible War…
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is set for release in August on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
