Samsung has today announced a new tablet for European audiences, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Tab A10.1.
The Korean company’s punting this particular slate at “users who are looking for a device at a good price-performance ratio“. Largely, the tablet aims to keep with the Samsung Galaxy A smartphone series, which aims to grab the youthful yet trendy crowd (or at least its marketing materials state).

In terms of feature coverage, Samsung’s done a good job.
Practicality in focus, the tablet measures in at 8.2mm thick, and weighs just slightly over 520g.
As you might’ve gathered from the name, it boasts a 10.1-inch screen with 1920×1200 pixels, a Samsung-crafted Exynos 7870 with eight CPU cores, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There’s a microSD card expansion slot too (thank goodness), and a fairly decent camera array. You’ll get an 8MP f/1.9 snapper at the back and a 2MP camera up front for selfies and video calling (both cameras can record 1080p at 30fps as well).
Powering everything is a rather generous 7300mAh battery, and that should keep the lights on for a fair bit thanks to Android Marshmallow’s presence as well.
But Samsung’s really pushing the family features. It’s new Kid Mode 4.0 allows parents to set usage times for children, to ensure that their eyes aren’t rendered as rectangular as the tablet itself.
For those in Europe, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A10.1 will go on sale from June 2016 for 289 Euro for the a WiFi-only version, and 349 Euro for the LTE/WiFi version.
There’s no word on the device’s international availability just yet.
