Disney Infinity closure timelines revealed, game officially dies March 2017

We’ve known for a while now that Disney Infinity will be discontinued, but we’ve finally received timelines for various features to be phased out.

In a press release sent to Gearburn, the company confirmed that as of 29 July, no in-app purchases can be made in the PC, iOS, Android, Amazon and Apple TV versions of the game. However, owners of the Steam version of Infinity 3.0 can continue to make purchases.

As of 30 September, “the Steam versions of Disney Infinity 2.0 and 3.0 will remain operational with the exception of all online services and community features as these will be discontinued”, Disney explained.

30 September will also see the PC, Android, Amazon, Apple TV and iOS versions of Disney Infinity being pulled from their respective app stores.

Disney Infinity’s online features will shutter March 2017, but console versions will remain playable

It’s not the only big Infinity change taking hold in September though…

“The Disney Infinity Community team will no longer be reviewing or approving any new Toy Boxes that are submitted to Disney for all console, mobile and PC versions of the game. However if you are playing on any console, Apple TV or Windows 8/10 versions of the game, you can continue to download your favourite Toy Boxes from the Community Content section until 3 March 2017.”

On 3 March 2017, the Apple TV and Windows 8/10 versions of the game will no longer be playable. In fact, the date will see all Disney Infinity online and community features turned off across platforms. The team has noted in a FAQ that console versions will still be playable after March 2017 though.
