The second edition of the Canal Walk Gaming Expo is set to kick off next week, Tuesday, 25 October 2016.
The expo, which was a fairly muted affair in 2015, will allow the public to sample some of the industry’s latest game. Additionally, it will also host the Cape Town qualifying leg of the Kwese Ace FIFA 17 Football Tournament.

Winners of the tournament walk away with a cash prize of R10 000, and the chance to compete in the grand final in November.
“Last year we were overwhelmed by the positive reception of the concept,” said Canal Walk’s marketing manager Vanessa Herbst.
“We knew gaming was big, but the level of support and interest was more than we expected. Taking this growing phenomenon into account, we have worked closely with all our exhibitors this year to bring an even better experience and even more variety to the party, as electronic entertainment is appealing to all age groups,” she continued.

Along with awesome games and competitive gaming taking place, there will also be a cosplay initiative taking place on Saturday 29 October at 12pm.
“It’s hard to believe a year has already come and gone since our first expo! Gaming is an affordable form of entertainment for the whole family,” said the marketing manager at BT Games, Karl Klöpfer.
“Many of the best games are released at this time of year so we have worked hard to bring a mix of content for all — new games, upcoming games, retro content, competitions and much more. And along with that shoppers can expect big savings on consoles, games and related items during this Expo,” he concluded.
Other confirmed exhibitors include Prima Interactive, Megarom Interactive, Nintendo, Electronic Arts and many others.
