It may have been delayed from its original 2016 release, but there’s still a lot to like about PS4-exclusive Gran Turismo Sport. Between the motorsport focus, heavy esport emphasis and official FIA backing, it signals a very different approach to the GT formula.
Now, Sony has announced that interested gamers can sign up for the closed beta test here. However, the biggest downside is that this stage of the beta is only available for US gamers.

“The initial phase of the closed beta, starting on 17 March, will only be open to selected US PSN IDs. After this initial phase, the beta will be opened to European players,” Sony announced on its blog. It explained that the USA’s time difference to Japan made it ideal for the developers gathering data.

Not in the USA or Europe? Or maybe you just missed out on both phases? Well, don’t lose hope just yet.
“Spaces will be limited so, if you don’t get into Phase two, make sure you stay tuned for future beta activities in the run-up to launch,” Sony wrote.
Gran Turismo Sport has a vague 2017 release date, but you can expect FIA-certified championships, live race streams, 140 “Super Premium” vehicles, 27 tracks and livery customisation when it comes out.
