There’s a whole generation of gamers out there who don’t know Call of Duty‘s original World War Two setting. Instead, we’ve got a generation of kids weaned on the modern or futuristic Call of Duty titles.
So it’s quite interesting to see Activision-Blizzard confirm that the next game in the franchise will return the series to its Allied/Axis roots.

The publisher took to Twitter to confirm the old setting, while also announcing a reveal live-stream set for 26 April.

The first three Call of Duty games were set in World War Two, but it was Call of Duty 4 that took the series to new heights, owing to a modern setting, multiplayer suite and regenerating health. Call of Duty: World at War returned to the older setting, but by then, fans were hankering for M16s, MP5s and kill streaks.
The franchise literally reached for the stars with last year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (review), featuring a story that spanned the solar system. In saying so, we quite liked this latest entry, featuring dogfights in space and combat on various planets.
Expect the Call of Duty: WWII reveal on 26 April at 7pm SAST.
