The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (review) is quite possibly the best budget phablet on the market right now, owing to its large battery, snappy processor and capable camera for the price. It’s been a while since the Note 3 launched locally though, while the Redmi Note 4 has launched in China and several other locales earlier this year.
Fortunately, local distributor MIA Group has told Gearburn that the company will indeed be bringing the Redmi Note 4 to South Africa.

“We have placed an order and are awaiting confirmation on local launch date,” a representative told us in response to a query, adding that we can expect to see the phone “in the near future”.
Pricing wasn’t revealed by the distributor, but if it’s anything like the Redmi Note 3, we can expect a price in the region of R4000.
The Redmi Note 4 is indeed coming to South Africa, MIA Group told Gearburn
As for specs, the Redmi Note 4 packs a mid-range but power-sipping Snapdragon 625 or a MediaTek Helio X20 chip, as well as a 4100mAh battery. It’s unclear which processor South Africa will be getting but, for what it’s worth, the country received the Snapdragon version of the Redmi Note 3.
Looking further down the spec sheet, the Redmi Note 4 features 2GB RAM/16GB expandable storage, all the way up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
In the camera department, we see a resolution drop to 13MP (from 16MP) for the main camera, while the selfie camera is still a 5MP sensor.
Now, about bringing the Mi 6, Mi Note 2 and other Xiaomi products to the country…
