K10000 Max: Oukitel’s rugged phone can go a week without charging

Oukitel K10000 Max,K10000 Max

The Oukitel K10000 broke records in late 2015 when it was revealed, packing a monstrous 10 000mAh battery into its brick-like chassis. Who cares if it weighed a ton and could hold down a body in a river (let alone your pants), if it lasted for a week and could charge other phones?

A few months back, we saw the K10000 Pro, packing a leather back, full HD screen, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and MT6750T (octacore A53) processor. It made for quite an evolution over the original model, which had 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 720p screen and a quad-core A53 chipset.

Now, the Chinese firm has launched yet another K10000 variant, in the form of the K10000 Max, packing a 10 000mAh battery into a rugged, durable chassis.

The new phone differs by featuring IP68 water and dust resistance, as well as a shock proof design. In fact, the company sought to demonstrate its rugged nature in the form of a YouTube video, leaving the phone underwater for several minutes and leaving the phone in mud.

The device’s specs aren’t too bad for a mid-range phone either, packing an ageing but capable octacore A53 chipset (MT6753), 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a 1080p 5.5-inch display and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Additionally, you’re getting a 13MP main camera and 8MP selfie shooter. For some reason, Oukitel still sees it fit to upscale/interpolate these images to 16MP and 13MP respectively. Go figure.

The Oukitel K10000 Max features the same 10 000mAh battery as predecessors, but it’s tougher now

The Oukitel K10000 Max will set you back US$250. The local Oukitel distributor has largely been silent over the past few months, save for claiming that they’re restocking devices. In saying so, the K6000 Plus is in stock at Takealot again, as of publication.

We’ve enquired about availability of K10000 variants and will update the article if we receive a response.
