Local Xiaomi distributor MIA Group has been teasing a new product reveal on its Facebook pages. But could it be the Mi 6?
Well, unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to be the case. Instead, the distributor is readying the budget-minded Redmi 4X for launch, if its website is anything to go by.

According to a listing on the MIA website, the 32GB Redmi 4X will be coming to the country in black and gold colours. As for a price? You’re looking at a R2799 price tag.
The price means that the phone fits in between the R2000 Redmi 4A and the Redmi 3, which retailed for roughly R3000 at launch.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4X is set for South Africa, packing plenty of improvements over the 4A
Your cash gets you a 5-inch 720p screen, lightweight Snapdragon 435 octacore processor, 32GB of expandable storage (via hybrid SIM slot), 3GB of RAM and a large 4100mAh battery. Other features include a 13MP main camera, 5MP selfie shooter, a rear fingerprint scanner and IR blaster.
In other words, your extra R700 gets you double the CPU cores, an extra gigabyte of RAM, more base storage and a much bigger battery. Not bad at all.
Thanks again to Sumen Pillay for spotting this!
