How well do enhanced 360 titles run on Xbox One X?

Xbox One X,

Microsoft’s Xbox One X is already delivering on its promise of better looking and/or smoother Xbox One games, but what about Xbox 360 titles?

We heard earlier this month that seven last-gen titles would be getting the enhanced treatment for Xbox One X. So Digital Foundry put these to the test.

Starting with Halo 3, the publication reports that we get a 1920p native resolution (a nine-fold increase in pixel count over the original), not quite being native 2160p/4K. But we also see better texture detail, improved details in general and HDR effects.

Gears of War 3 delivers a big step up to native 4K (from 720p), but notes that textures “are still mastered for the original 720p presentation”.

As for Mirror’s Edge? This is one game that seems like a no-brainer for HDR, so we’re glad to see it included here, although Digital Foundry found that the game’s art style was almost toned down as a result. Otherwise, expect native 4K (from 720p) as well.

Other games tested include Assassin’s Creed, Skate 3, Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Check out the video below.
