When should you expect OnePlus 5T in South Africa?

The OnePlus 5 finally makes its way to South Africa this month courtesy of Cernotech, coming as the OnePlus 5T variant is revealed internationally.

Weighing in at R12 000 prepaid or R599 a month via FNB, the OnePlus 5 still packs plenty of features. What if you’d prefer the OnePlus 5T instead? Is the distributor going to bring in the new handset as well?

“We will be importing the OnePlus 5T once we have finalised Icasa and mobile network testing in SA,” Cernotech’s Marielle Müller told Gearburn.

“We hope for that to be early next year,” the representative added. “Pricing will only be confirmed closer to the time.”

The OnePlus 5T features the same Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB/8GB RAM and 3300mAh battery as the previous model, but offers an 18:9 AMOLED screen (2160×1080) and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The tweaked phone also delivers a rejigged dual-camera setup. Gone is the Apple-inspired telephoto camera, with a more traditional 20MP f/1.7 camera in its place for low-light shots.
