The original GPD Win was a rather unique device, essentially being a Windows laptop in a Nintendo DS-style form factor.
It wasn’t the most powerful device, featuring an Intel Atom X7 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. But the integrated gamepad and meant it was ideal for emulation and indie titles.

Now, the GPD Win 2 specifications have been revealed (as spotted on reddit), looking like a solid step up from the predecessor.
The new mini console, expected to hit Indiegogo on 15 January 2018, packs an Intel Core M3 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 6-inch 720p display and two 4900mAh batteries.
As for gaming performance? The redditor posted apparent FPS benchmark results for various games, touting close to 40fps for GTA V and over 80fps for Overwatch.
Footage has also popped up online, showing the GPD Win 2 running the likes of Bayonetta and GTA V. Here’s hoping it’s actual on-device gameplay and not streaming from a beefy PC.
Still, if you like the idea of a DS-style handheld but want PC games, this might be a solid option. But don’t expect great performance or the latest AAA games to run at all.
