Huawei’s got a pretty diverse portfolio of smartphones in the country, ranging from its low-end Y series to its ever-popular Lite devices and the P and Mate series.
Those wanting a budget-priced dual-camera smartphone have been left in the lurch until now though. Fortunately, MTN’s latest catalogue (thanks to Sumen for the tip!) shows that the Huawei P Smart is coming to fill the gap.

Coming in at R249 a month on a Made for Me S package, the P Smart is also listed as having a prepaid price of R5239. This puts it squarely in P10 Lite range, the older phone having a launch price of R5299.
The P Smart offers a mid-range Kirin 659 processor, 3GB RAM/32GB storage or 4GB RAM/64GB storage, a tall 5.56-inch 18:9 display (2160×1080), rear fingerprint scanner, Android Oreo and a 3000mAh battery.
But the device stands out from the P10 Lite thanks to a dual-camera setup on the back (13MP+2MP), used for depth-of-field effects. Selfie enthusiasts should be happy with the 8MP front-facing shooter.
The Huawei P Smart joins the Xiaomi Mi A1 and FNB’s Conexis X2 in offering a dual-camera arrangement in a mid-tier smartphone.
