Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) is one of the key tech events of the calendar, as the company shows off its latest software and hardware updates.
Now, the company has announced a 4 June date for the conference, set to take place in San Jose.

“Developers can apply for tickets from now through 22 March at 10 am PDT via the WWDC website. Tickets are issued through a random selection process, and developers will be notified of application status by 23 March at 5 pm PDT,” Apple added.
The big mystery is what Apple will actually be announcing at the conference. It’s all but given that we’ll see a first official look at iOS 12 and a new version of MacOS (as well as WatchOS and TVOS). Last year’s event also saw the firm reveal its ARKit augmented reality platform for the first time, so expect a peek at some noteworthy and upcoming AR projects.
New hardware?
The 2017 event also saw the Cupertino company show off new iMac and Macbook computers, as well as new iPad Pro models. So don’t be surprised to see refreshed models once again.
The 2017 running marked the debut of the HomePod, but we aren’t anticipating a new model — the first gen version only launched last month. Will Apple trumpet sales of the speaker at WWDC? Well, one analyst report claims that sales have been “underwhelming” so, if anything, expect them to either talk up first day sales or new capabilities.
Will Apple release new iPhones here? That’s highly highly unlikely, although there’s always that elusive new iPhone SE that people have been waiting for. But there’s been little of substance to support a new generation iPhone SE.
In saying so, the firm’s latest iPhone X sports AI silicon, so we’re keen to hear how Apple and third parties are leveraging the tech.
