The Oppo F9 series launched in India on Tuesday, bringing with it a heap of marketing material dedicated to its new charging system.
Dubbed VOOC, Oppo claims that a five minute charge will give users 120 minutes of talk time (for those who actually use their phones for calling, that is).

“Compared with conventional high current protection, VOOC uses five levels of protection layering from the adapter to the port and interior of the phone,” the company writes.
Sticking with the battery theme, the F9 also has a 3500mAh battery.
Overall, there are two versions, but the Pro is the more interesting.
It features a 6.3-inch 2340×1080 IPS screen, with a fetching teardrop notch, all coated in Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6.
Under the hood, MediaTek’s Helio P60 chipset stars, alongside 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (with a microSD card slot).
At the rear, there’s a dual camera array — a 16MP primary snapper with f/1.8 aperture and phase detection autofocus, and a 2MP depth sensor alongside it. Up front, Oppo’s fitted a 25MP selfie camera in the middle of the phone’s notch.
The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, with Oppo’s ColorOS 5.2 on top of that.
The Oppo F9 will start at Rs19 990 (around US$290), while the pro will fetch around Rs4000 more. There’s no word on when the phone will be available.
