Hisense U30 sports punch-hole screen, tasty mid-range specs

We’ve heard little from Hisense since the H12 (pictured above) finally arrived in South Africa late last year, but at CES 2019 in Vegas, the company lifted the covers on what could be its next mid-range contender.

And it’s rather exciting on paper too.

Dubbed the Hisense U30, the phone features a 6.3 inch 2340×1080 LCD screen. More interestingly, it also has a punch-hole camera, which houses a 20MP selfie camera.

Yes, and that means no notch, just a hole in the screen’s top left hand side.

At the rear, Hisense employs a 48MP primary camera and a 5MP depth sensor alongside it.

Internally, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 — a chipset that was announced in October 2018 sporting a 11nm process, a two-plus-six eight-core design and a 2GHz clockspeed — is mated to at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage.

More impressive though is the Hisense U30’s battery capacity, at 4500mAh. Charging times should be reduced thanks to Qualcomm QuickCharge 4.0 support though.

Completing the package is an LG G4-like textured rear cover, Android 9.0 Pie at launch, and a rear fingerprint reader.

According to XDA, the phone should be released in Europe by March, so keep those fingers crossed for possible news of the device heading to South Africa by mid-year.
