Microsoft firmly believes that it will become the “Netflix for games”. This according to an interview with CEO Satya Nadella, conducted by Business Insider India.
This ambition will be fulfilled through its Project xCloud, a game streaming service that was revealed in October 2018.

“Our vision for the evolution of gaming is similar to music and movies — entertainment should be available on demand and accessible from any screen,” the company said on its website.
Though other similar platforms like Google’s Project Stream exist, Nadella believes that Microsoft has “as much a shot to build a subscription service as anybody else”.
“We have a structural position in that we have both a console business as well as a PC business,” he told the publication, referring to Xbox and Windows, respectively.
Project xCloud is still being developed, but Microsoft intends to begin rolling out the service to beta testers this year.
