Chinese camera technology firm DJI on Tuesday announced its new smartphone gimbal, the Osmo Mobile 3.
The stabalised gimbal allows users to record shake-free video with their smartphones. It folds away too when not in use, ensuring it can fit into a pocket or bag without fuss.

The Osmo Mobile 3’s button placements have also been moved to the handle, allowing users to control the orientation of the phone without needed to physically remove the phone.
DJI also promises up to 15 hours of battery life, which is more than enough to cover the show floor of a conference.
“A trigger helps manoeuvre the gimbal by locking orientation, rotating the gimbal for selfies, and even re-centrering when tracking a subject,” the company adds in a release.
Its ActiveTrack technology also allows the smartphone and gimbal to track an object while keeping it in frame. Users can also zoom in an out using the controls on the Osmo Mobile 3 without the need to touch the phone’s screen.
The gimbal includes a few other modes too, from Gesture Control (which allows users to snap selfies by pressing any button), to Sport Mode (which increases the gimbal’s response times).
The DJI Osmo Mobile 3 will be available in South Africa from mid-September and will cost R1895 (including a wrist strap, storage pouch and anti-slip pads).
A “combo” package will also be available which includes the Osmo Grip Tripop and Osmo Carrying Case for R2295.
