Nothing is sacred in smartphone leak land. This week, we’re expecting the announcement and big reveal of the Huawei Mate 30 series. But it seems that we needn’t wait for Thursday at all.
Instead, Venturebeat contributor and leaker Evan Blass has published all four members of the upcoming smartphone family to Twitter.

If you can’t be bothered, here’s what to expect in bullet form:
- Expect four phones, one Porsche Design model, a Pro model, a normal model and a Lite mode.
- You’ve probably seen the Huawei Mate 30 Lite before without even knowing it, because it’s set to be based on the Nova 5i Pro which launched earlier this year.
- The Porsche Design and Pro models will have the same wide notch, while the stock Mate 30 has a smaller notch.
- All Mate 30s, except the Lite, will be powered by the Kirin 990 chipset, but it not yet clear if all three will sport a 5G modem baked-in by default. There is a 4G-only version of the chipset available.
- The rear of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will sport four camera sensors in a circular housing. Think Lumia 950 XL.
- The Huawei Mate 30 Porsche Design retains the four sensors, but mounts them in a strip along the phone’s rear. There’ll be a red-on-black and black-on-red colour option too.
- It’s not clear if any of these phones will launch with Google’s apps, Play Services, or the Play Store.
So there you have it.
More will be revealed about all the devices come Thursday, as we’ll be live from the company’s satellite launch event in Johannesburg.
But for now, it seems that you’ll have quite the variety of phones to choose from when the Mate 30 family eventually arrives in South Africa.
