To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nikon’s D-series cameras and 60th anniversary of its F-mount lenses, Nikon on Wednesday revealed that it’s developing the Nikon D6 DSLR and AF-S NIKKOR 120-300mm telephoto lens.
Though the company promises that the camera will be “most advanced digital SLR to date” and the new lens will give sports photographers “greater support”, it did not reveal any further details about either device.

“Nikon is striving to expand possibilities for imaging expression and leading the way in imaging culture with both digital SLR and mirrorless camera systems, and a rich lineup of lenses,” the company did, however, note.
Last August, Nikon launched its first full-frame mirrorless range with the Nikon Z7 and Z6.
The upcoming D6 suggests the company will continue to invest in DSLR technology despite the rising popularity of mirrorless cameras.
