Samsung’s next foldable phone may not look much like the Galaxy Fold.
In a video posted on Tuesday, the company revealed a device that resembled something more akin to clamshell phones popular in the early 2000s.

The clip also shows how Samsung’s OneUI would run on a device like this.
A device that folds top-down instead of left-to-right does make a lot of sense for pocket carry.
For one, it enables the use of a smaller screen on the “cover” of the phone. When folded out, users have the option of a wider display that’ll benefit taller aspect ratios, and would allow a user to run two apps side-by-side without fuss.
Whether this design is planned for Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 2 is anyone’s guess, but it’s interesting that it’s not completely set on the Galaxy Fold’s current design philosophy.
Well, this probably makes sense considering all the foldable phone’s issues running up to its actual launch in September.
