New Dell G Series coming to SA: gaming devices and dates

Dell has announced a selection of new gaming devices from their G Series that will be landing in South Africa in the coming months.

The new devices include the new Dell G7 15/17, the Dell G5 desktop, the Dell 27 Gaming Monitor and Dell 27 Curved Gaming Monitor — as well as a new Alienware keyboard.

While local prices have yet to be confirmed, each product will be coming to South Africa.

Dell G7 gaming laptop

The new Dell G7 model is a gaming laptop that comes in 15 and 17-inch variants. The 2020 update of the laptop includes updated CPUs, a slimmer form factor, reduced screen bezels, and updated graphics cards options.

The latest G7 laptops will include 10th Gen Intel Core CPUs. The G7 15 offers up to a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design GPU, while the G7 17 offers up to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super.

The laptop will be available in South Africa by September 2020, according to Dell. The current RRP in the US for the new G7 laptop starts at $1 429.99.

Dell G5 desktop

For those looking for a more traditional gaming setup, the company has launched the refreshed Dell G5 desktop.

The gaming rig will include new 10th Gen Intel processors, as well as Nvidia GeForce GTX/RTX or AMD Radeon RX 5600 graphics cards.

The Dell G5 desktop aims to offer a compact form factor that is still easily upgradable for gamers.

The product is set to launch in South Africa between August and September 2020. Its US recommended price starts at $699.99.

New Dell monitors

Dell also announced its Dell 27 and Dell 27 Curved monitors, aimed at providing quality visuals for graphics-intensive games.

The standard Dell 27 monitor offers an IPS display with QHD resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate.

Meanwhile, The Dell 27 Curved monitor features an FHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate.

The Dell 27 Gaming Monitor ($569.99) launches worldwide on 28 July, while the Dell 27 Curved Gaming Monitor ($279.99) will be available in South Africa from August 2020.

Alienware RBG Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

The company also launched the Alienware RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (AW410K). The keyboard includes Cherry MX Brown key switches, programmable keys, and per-key RGB customizable backlighting.

The product also supports three different angles and height adjustability. It’s set to reach South Africa, but the exact launch window is TBC.

The current RRP for the keyboard in the US market is $129.99.

This has been a big week for gaming, with Acer also launching new devices and products.
