Xiaomi has announced the launch of the Redmi 9C in South Africa — an affordable smartphone, with a 5000mAh battery, that costs under R3000.
The company made the announcement on 7 September. The phone will be available to purchase from 9 September.

In addition to the large battery, the Redmi 9C features a triple-lens main camera, a 5MP selfie camera, and a 6.53-inch HD+ display.
It also has a rear fingerprint sensor and face unlock functionality.
The smartphone will come in two variants: a version with 32GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, and a version with 64GB of storage and 3GB of RAM.

Xiaomi Redmi 9C price in South Africa
The phone goes on sale in South Africa from 9 September.
The 32GB version of the Redmi 9C has a price of R2 399, while the 64GB version will retail for R2 599.
The phone will be available from Mobile in Africa (Xiaomi’s local distributor) and Hi-Online, as well as other retailers such as Takelot and Incredible Connection.
The smartphone is another new addition to 2020’s lineup of affordable devices.
Smartphone affordability is at the forefront of many people’s minds, especially as premium device prices soar.
Earlier this month, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy X Fold 2 — which is the company’s most expensive phone ever.
The foldable smartphone will cost R49 000 when it lands on South African shores on 25 September.
