Vivo South Africa has announced that several of its smartphones will now be available from MTN, including the Vivo Y1S — which will be exclusively available through the network provider.
The smartphone brand, which launched locally just under a year ago, now has two smartphones available through MTN contracts.

This includes the MTN-exclusive Y1S and the Vivo Y11.
“We are very excited to have our product available in the MTN network,” says Hawa Hyath-Saloojee, Vivo mobile SA Marketing Director. “We truly believe that being available through Mzansi’s best-loved network is a much-anticipated step towards being accessible to all South Africans.”
The MTN rollout has focused mostly on Vivo’s affordable, entry-level smartphones. Whether premium devices such as the X50 Pro will also become available through MTN remains to be seen.
Other devices the company launched locally this year include the Y12 and Y30 smartphones.
Vivo contracts from MTN: Y1S and Y11
The Vivo Y1S is now available on contract from MTN starting at R199/month x 24 months.
According to Vivo, this makes the Y1S one of the most accessible smartphones on the local market in terms of affordability.
The Y1S includes specifications such as a 4020mAh battery, a 6.22-inch IPS HD+ display, and a 13MP rear camera.
Meanwhile, the Y11 is available for R249/month x 24 months.
The phone was the first Vivo smartphone to arrive in South Africa, launching locally in December 2019.
Both contracts include free Vivo giftbags with online purchases.
You can see the contracts on the MTN website.
