Poised as one of 2020’s biggest gaming releases, CD Projekt Red (CDPR)’s Cyberpunk 2077 launched to mixed reviews.
The developer apologised on Monday via the game’s official Twitter account after it was reported that the game was plagued with multiple technical problems.

The developer commented that they should have taken special attention to the game’s last-gen versions.
“First of all, we would like to start by apologising to you for not showing the game on base last-gen consoles before it premiered and, in consequence, not allowing you to make a more informed decision about your purchase.”
These problems arose prominently among PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. Graphical quality on last-gen consoles is significantly poorer than on PCs.
While playing on next-gen consoles improved graphics, there appears to be a major discrepancy between the game’s PC and console performance. Other issues include frequent bugs and crashes.
Many took to social media to express their frustration over the game’s poor performance on consoles.
Typical. Lie in the run-up, sling a half-baked product out the door and then apologise and claim you'll fix it in the patch when everyone calls you on your bullshit.
Congrats, @CDPROJEKTRED. You've shown you're just like every other Triple-A games company.#Cyberpunk2077 #CDPR pic.twitter.com/b9oD7wkUIB

So how is CDPR aiming to resolve the problem?
The developer has planned a series of updates. In their apology, they detailed the timeline of the upcoming updates, with additional fixes arriving to PC as well.
“The first round of updates has just been released and the next one is coming within the next 7 days. Expect more, as we will update frequently whenever new improvements are ready.
“After the holidays, we’ll continue working ‒ we’ll release two large patches starting with Patch #1 in January. This will be followed by Patch #2 in February.”
Refunds offered for Cyberpunk 2077
Players also have the option to apply for a refund for their purchase of the game on consoles.
They advised players who made the purchase digitally, to follow the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store refund procedure.
Players who made the purchase physically in-store will have to refer back to their retailer for the refund process.
Should any problems arise with the refund procedure, players can contact the developer directly.
Players can get a full refund on Cyberpunk 2077 until 21 December 2020.
