Ghostwire: Tokyo Tango Gameworks delay early 2022 Bethesda

Video game studio Tango Gameworks has delayed the launch of its upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive, Ghostwire: Tokyo, to early 2022 — citing employee safety.

The Japanese studio announced the delay on Twitter on 13 July.

It comes as Japan placed the city of Tokyo under a state of emergency in the face of increasing COVID-19 cases, Associated Press reported last week.

“We want to get the game in your hands as soon as possible so you can experience the unforgettable version of a haunted Tokyo that we’ve been hard at work building,” the tweet from Tango Gameworks read.

“At the same time, we’re also focused on protecting the health of everyone at Tango.”

The studio added it would show off more of the upcoming game in the coming months.

Tango Gameworks announced Ghostwire: Tokyo in 2019.

The game is a first-person adventure where players must traverse a supernatural version of Tokyo and battle spirits and monsters.

The game’s publisher Bethesda Softworks announced Ghostwire: Tokyo prior to its acquisition by Microsoft. However, unlike other upcoming Bethesda games, it will remain a PS5 timed exclusive at launch.

The game will also eventually be available on PC.
