Samsung launches Galaxy A22 smartphone – Price and details

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy A22, the latest offering in its mid-range line of Galaxy A smartphones, is now available in South Africa.

The phone is a successor to the Galaxy A21 and sits in the range below the more expensive Galaxy A32.

“The Galaxy A22 is an impressive device at excellent value that builds on our growing Galaxy A Series portfolio,” Director of Integrated Mobility at Samsung South Africa, Justin Hume, said in a statement.

“Featuring an immersive display and a versatile camera, our customers can experience next-generation performance, demonstrating Samsung’s commitment to providing accessible devices without compromising on quality.”

The Galaxy A22 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 720×1600 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate.

Inside, the phone uses a Mediatek Helio G80 Octa-Core processor. It packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board storage. It also has a 5 000mAh battery.

On the back, the phone has a quad-camera system. The system includes a 48MP main lens, 5MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor.

In addition, it has a 13MP selfie camera on top of the display.

Both the rear and selfie cameras offer 1080p video recording at 30fps.

Additional phone features include dual-SIM support and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The phone is now available for a recommended retail price of R3 999.

It is available in three colours including Violet, Mint, and Black.
