Epic Games has announced it will add a game achievements system where players can collect XP points when they play select titles.
The system, similar to those on other game platforms such as Steam, will be available to Epic players from next week.

“Over the last year, we’ve worked closely with some of our development partners to bring Epic Achievements to life,” Epic said in a blog post.
“We’re working to get these tools to more developers, so you can expect to see Epic Achievements popping up in your favourite games later this year.”
How Epic Achievements work
Players can unlock Epic Achievements and earn XP by completing objectives in the games they play.
This includes games such as Rocket League, Alan Wake Remastered, Pillars of Eternity, Zombie Army 4, Kena, and Hades.
Epic will sort the achievements into four tiers based on the amount of XP a player earns from each of them.
The tiers are as follows:
- Bronze = 5-45 XP
- Silver = 50-95 XP
- Gold = 100-200 XP
- Platinum = 250 XP
Games that have achievements will have a new Achievements page where players can track their progress and share it with other players. The pages will be available in players’ game libraries.
The pages will include outlines of each achievement, a player’s progress towards completing each and highlight those that they are near to completing.
Last year, Epic introduced an achievements tool that game developers could use in their titles and which they fully own and operate.
Existing developer achievements will remain functional in games if they do not wish to integrate them into the new system.
If they do integrate them, Epic will carry over the progress of its players and they will automatically earn XP from them.
Epic added it will introduce new social features and player rewards later this year.
