2022 is shaping up to be a stellar year for gaming with a plethora of exciting titles coming our way. So, without further ado, here are our most anticipated gaming titles of 2022…
Horizon: Forbidden West

- Release date: 18 February 2022
- Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
Unfortunately, this is the second time Horizon: Forbidden Dawn features on our upcoming games list since Sony had to move the release date to 2022. However, this certainly doesn’t diminish our excitement for this title. In fact, it’s quite the contrary.
Horizon: Forbidden West continues the critically acclaimed tale of Aloy. This time around, she ventures beyond her homeland to the American West Coast to “face awe-inspiring machines and mysterious new threats”.
Taking a cue from its predecessor, Forbidden West will once again throw us into a gorgeous wilderness filled with a whole new variety of mechanical beasts.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl
- Release date: 28 April 2022
- Platforms: Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows
It has been more than a decade since we were treated to the gorgeous but terrifying world of post-apocalyptic Ukraine. Set in the “Zone”, a massive area severely affected by the nuclear effects of Chernobyl’s blown reactors, you play as a Stalker, one of a few brave souls who venture into this zone in search of riches others are too frightened to seek out.
In line with the previous instalments, you can expect harsh survival mechanics, morally questionable factions, and a string of mutated creatures that would love to nibble you… to death!
Starfield
- Release date: 11 November 2022
- Platforms: Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows
Well, it’s about time! It’s been a quarter-century since Bethesda has blessed us with a new IP, drowning us in a seemingly never-ending river of Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles. Elder Scrolls threw us into a high-fantasy world. Fallout let explore a post-nuclear American apocalypse.
Starfield will take us into space.
Currently, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding this new title. For now, we simply know it’s an RPG that is set in space, and… yeah, that’s about it, really.
But considering the sprawling, distinctive and endlessly fun sandbox-like gameplay of its previous IPs, that’s more than enough to get us frothing at the mouth.
God of War: Ragnarok
- Release date: 2022
- Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
2018’s God of War reboot proved to be a revelatory title that breathed new life into a stagnating franchise. It showed us the vulnerabilities of protagonist Kratos as a father, a far cry from the version seen in previous instalments who was good for nothing more than yelling and massacring the entire Greek pantheon (in style, I might add).
God of War: Ragnarok looks to continue this narrative-rich death fest. It takes place three years of the events of the previous instalment and takes us into the world of Norse mythology. Atreus, your son, has grown into a young adult, showcasing a little extra wisdom and a whole new level of sass.
Aren’t you excited, boy!?
