Huawei launched seven new devices at their middle East Africa launch this week titled Huawei P60 Series and Flagship Product Launch.
The good news is that some of their products introduced at the event held in the United Arab Emirates have been earmarked to hit South African shores in less than ten days.

The event sparkled with innovation on incoming devices which and also tabled the thinking behind some of their new added features.
Mate! Here’s a foldable that we liked
Devices launched on the day were the Huawei P60 Pro, the Huawei Free Buds 5, Huawei Watch Ultimate, Huawei Mate X3, MatePad 11-inch 2023, Huawei Matebook X Pro and Huawei MateBook D14.
Of the new lineup of competent devices, the Mate X3 is one device that we think will set SA tongues wagging.
The idea behind the Mate X3 is very interesting.
Introduce a foldable phone in a different way. A device that weighs far less than the competition. Work on the fold crease to almost eliminate it. Make the phone small enough to fit in your pocket but also maintaining its pedigree as a foldable.
Has the objective been achieved?
During our quick test to explore the Huawei Mate X3 at the Dubai launch, we noticed that its features indicate a step forward for foldable smartphones.
While the incoming Mate X3 clearly has shifted away from its predecessor Mate Xs2’s design, the Mate X3 features what was described as an unparalleled design for a foldable smartphone at the UAE launch.
The Mate X3 is definitely slimmer than most standard smartphones which is very impressive for a foldable device.
Huawei confirmed a thickness of just 11.08mm folded while it only measured 5.3 mm when unfolded.
Weighing at just 259g, with a rounded curved grip around its slim bezels, the device answers the grip question very well, as it fits just right on the palm of your hand even when unfolded.
Users get a 8MP selfie camera, a 50MP main camera, 12MP periscope telephoto sensor with a 5x optical zoom and 13MP telephoto camera.
You get Kunlun glass protection on the outside display which comes with a 1 080 x 2, 504 120Hz OLED cover display, which is the benchmark for today’s competent smart devices.
Lets not forget the 256t to 512GB storage on top of a massive 4 800mAh battery charging at a 66W fast charge.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+Gen chipset makes this Mate X3 a definite contender in a pool of foldable devices which may have to go back to the drawing board once the Huawei Mate X3 lands in South Africa.
