It’s been a little while since Volkswagen updated the Polo, its immensely popular city runabout, so the announcement that the 2015 model comes with a facelift (along with a few other tweaks) is a pretty welcome one.
That said, things aren’t all that different from the outside. The bumper lines have been tightened, LED headlights are an optional spec and there are five new alloy wheel designs, if that’s the kind of thing that floats your boat.

Inside, the tech’s been beefed up with a smarter centre console, along with an infotainment system ported from the MK VII Golf. The new safety tech comes from the bigger vee-dub and includes a post collision braking system, a system that detects if you’re getting drowsy at the wheel and an emergency braking system designed to brake automatically at low speed.
There are a couple of new engine options, including a Blue Motion spec that Volkswagen claims will be able to get 29km to the litre, emitting just 94 g/km of CO2 while it’s at it.
The new Polo is set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
