Look everyone, new VW Polos! If you’re the kind of person who gets excited by small, economical hatchbacks then you’ll probably be screaming something to that effect right about now.
To be specific, Volkswagen has announced a new range of Polos, which will most likely make their debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Among the new models announced by the Wolfsburg-based marque are a Polo TSI BlueMotion, Polo TDI BlueMotion, Polo BlueGT and CrossPolo.

The unifying themes behind all of the models are increased fuel efficiency and the introduction of consumer tech usually reserved for higher-end VWs.
The BlueMotion for instance, now comes with engines that Volkswagen reckons will let it achieve 4.1l/100 km in petrol format and 3.1 l/100 km in diesel.
Across the range, there are new steering, suspension and assistance systems as well as a Driver Alert System, Front Assist ambient traffic monitoring system with City Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control as optional extras.
If you’ve got the dosh, you can also fit a rear view camera as an optional extra, which isn’t exactly something you’d usually find in cars at any of the Polos’ price points.
The infotainment system meanwhile consists of three radio/CD systems (“Composition Touch,†“Composition Colour,†“Composition Mediaâ€) and a radio/CD navigation system (“Discover Mediaâ€). Depending on the version, the devices offer functions such as Bluetooth audio streaming (with a smart phone, including cover display and touchscreen control), a proximity sensor (other menu details are shown when hand approaches the screen), two-finger map zooming in navigation mode (like on a smart phone) and interfacing of the mobile phone to the vehicleâ€
