Mini lifts the lid on the new Countryman

It might not be every Mini purist’s cup of tea, but there’s no denying that the Marque’s Countryman model has serious presence. Then again, that’s bound to happen when you look like a (slightly) shrunk down Range Rover. We can now also confirm that the latest generation Countryman has done pretty much nothing to change that.

In fact, if anything, the new Countryman is a little bolder than its predecessors, something Mini admits to in the press release by pointing out the car’s “striking accents” and “athletic flair”. Over all though there hasn’t been much change to the exterior.

Inside, things are pretty much the same too. The speedometer is still, for some reason, in the middle rather than behind the steering wheel and everything else is pretty much where it’s always been on the Countryman. The only change that is anything resembling substantive sees rear seats given extra adjustability.

Under the bonnet, there are a range of four-cylinder engine options available depending on what iteration of the Countryman you get. The power those engines put out will range from 98 horsepower in the Mini One Countryman all the way up to 218 bhp in the twin-turbo John Cooper Works.
