Bentley has announced two new cars (that aren’t really new at all) — the Mulsanne Sport, promising to get big bosses to their meetings even earlier than before, and the Mulsanne 95th anniversary edition, a car that takes “wood trim” to the extreme.
The Mulsanne Sport is Bentley’s saloon for the stately yet swift. The marque is clearly bored of making mundane cars, so it decided to shove a more potent, redesigned twin-turbo 6.75-litre V8 into the bonnet. The car now enjoys 530-horsepower, which is plenty to waft the sophisticated tank from standstill to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds.

Transferring the power to the wheels is done through an eight-speed gearbox which allows the car to top out at 305km/h — more than enough pace.
But the Mulsanne Sport isn’t all old-world charm. It sports some 21st century gizmos, like cylinder deactivation, adjustable air suspension modes and reduced CO2 emissions, making it a car for the new age.
If this doesn’t quite tickle your fancy, the bespoke UK-only Mulsanne 95 can also be had, but only 15 examples will be hand crafted.
While the two cars will appeal to completely different buyers, they will no doubt enjoy Bentley’s impeccable handcrafted pedigree and love for detail, regardless of the model they choose.
