Tesla fans, set some time aside on your calendar for 9 October. Why? Well according to a tweet sent out by Elon Musk, the company will announce a new model called the “D” and “something else”.
The renowned tech innovator sent out the information in a cryptic tweet and refused to be drawn on what exactly he meant by “something else”:

Of course, there were plenty of jokes around the tweet, nearly all of which Musk seems to have taken in good jest:

Jokes aside, the smart money is on the Tesla Model D being an all-wheel drive version of the Model S. If that is the case, D most likely stands for Dual motor. With an AWD Model X on the way, it probably wouldn’t take too much effort to adapt the new drive to the sedan.
