Lotus has had a bit of a bad Formula 1 season.
The once-mighty team from Enstone has been ravaged by terrible financial losses and Renault‘s down-on-power and thirsty hybrid engine. The car’s chassis and aero package didn’t exactly help either, but the team always seems to take things with a pinch of salt.

Case in point? The team has just jumped one of its trucks over one of its Formula 1 cars, for funsies.
Okay, not quite for funsies alone. The team set a new world record for the longest truck jump ever recorded — just over 25 metres (83ft. 7″). That’s more impressive than it’s Formula 1 car has been all season long.
Stunt drivers Mike Ryan (truck) and Martin Ivanov (Lotus F1 car) made the feat possible. We don’t think Lotus wanted to risk their Formula 1 drivers.
Nevertheless, it makes for quite a video, and YouTube seems to agree. With 6.1-million views and counting, this is quite a successful publicity stunt for the team.
