Merc makes surreal, hilarious short film ahead of Berlin Fashion Week

If you were a luxury German car brand looking to advertise your involvement in the Fall/Winter 2015 edition of Berlin Fashion Week, how would you go about it?

Well if you’re Mercedes-Benz, then apparently the answer to that question involves making a short-film sending up the entire fashion ad genre and interspersing it with gratuitous shots of your gullwinged C111 prototype.

The film features the C111 and Justin Oâ€Shea, buying director at online fashion store mytheresa.com, as well as the Chipperfield brothers and fashion editors Veronika Heilbrunner and Julia Knolle.

In the piece, O’Shea finds himself trapped in the cliches of fashion advertising, including slow motion shots, stilted soliloquys and strange transitions to black and white. Perhaps the most entertaining sequence however involves O’Shea’s trip to the shops to buy milk.
