Check out Hyundai’s cool cross-over hatch concept

This is pretty nifty. While many of the world’s big car makers are launching new models at the New York International Auto Show this week, Hyundai’s chosen to release a really promising concept on its home turf. It’s called the Enduro and it’s more than a little striking.

The Korean car maker launched the three door crossover concept at the Seoul Motor Show, also taking place this week. Inspired by the world of motorbike racing, Hyundai claims the Enduro is “the perfect partner for individuals living in the modern city with energetic, athletic lifestyles”.

Among the new design features on the concept are a reinterpreted version of Hyundai’s signature hexagonal grille, something which is also reflected in the rear windscreen. There’s also an aluminum aero blade which connects the front fender to the grille.

The C-pillars meanwhile are fitted with an aerodynamic air-blade to reduce drag and the side-skirts incorporate step bars for easier loading and unloading of the roof rack.

Hyundai hasn’t released any images of the interior, but it does say that it includes “organically interacting lines which generate an intensity that coexists with toughness and sophistication”. Right.

It also says that there are visual elements reminiscent of sports equipment, which are applied to cabin components and surfaces which occupants touch. The steering wheel design meanwhile features the spoke and handle molding of a road bike and the door handles have a lightweight cowl image of an off-road bike.
