Porsche has unveiled a brand new Boxster Spyder ahead of the New York Auto Show and one thing’s for sure, it’s a hell of a lot more aggressive than its predecessors.
In stark contrast to most sports cars entering the market today, the Boxster Spyder’s is only available in manual transmission. Its canvas roof meanwhile has to be operated by hand.

According to Porsche, the suspension on the new Boxster — which is 20mm lower than the last model — has been firmed up. Combine that with the 3.8-liter six-cylinder 276 kW (375 hp) engine and you have something which is bound to have the middle-aged folks who can afford it clutching at their lower backs every time they get home from a drive.
Still, if there’s no traffic, there’s very little chance that the drive will take all that long. According to Porsche, it’ll take around 4.5 seconds for the Boxster Spyder to go from 0 to 100 km/h; the modelâ€
There’s no aircon or radio as standard, something which Porsche says is meant to underline “the modelâ€
Porsche also says that elements of the car pay tribute to previous models. As a tribute to the 718 Spyder from the 1960s, for instance, the new Boxster Spyder has two prominent streamlined bulges that extend down along the long rear lid behind the headrests.
The front and rear end of the model were meanwhile taken from the Cayman GT4.
