VW set to unveil new Scirocco GTS in Shanghai

Volkswagen has announced that it will be launching a new version of the Scirocco GTS at the upcoming Shanghai International Auto Show and it looks like a very special tribute to everything that badge has stood for over the past 33 years.

The car, which has one of the most unmistakable profiles on the road, has a 220 PS (152kw) engine has a top speed of 246 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.

Other distinguishing features include new 18-inch alloy wheels and red brake callipers. If you’re feeling particularly ostentatious, there’s also the option of GTS décor (something that Chinese buyers will get as standard). The options on that front come in a couple of flavours: red for cars painted in “Deep Black”, “Indium Grey”, “Urano Grey”, “Pure White”, “Oryx White” and black when finished in “Flash Red”.

Inside, there are black trim features, red stitching and the iconic golf ball gear knob.

The new GTS also marks the first time that VW’s fitting its Modular infotainment matrix in a Scirocco. The system will be offered on all new Scirocco models from May onward.
