Local Motors, the US carmaker that crowdsources its designs, has unveiled the winners of Project [REDACTED], its bid to create a highway-ready 3D-printed car.
According to Local Motors, more than 60 entries came in, with the win going to Kevin Lo for his Swim and Sport design.

The company says its judging panel was impressed by that fact that the design “showcases the myriad of benefits of Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM), including the ability to create a completely customizable vehicle. Lo’s design also boasts a flexible foundation that can support many different styles and technology options”.
Lo’s design also includes removable body panels, allowing owners to customise their look and enable replacement when damage occurs.
Lo has been a community member since 2011 and has participated in 21 challenges.
Judges for the competition included Local Motors personnel, automotive celebrities, university partners and members of the Local Motors community.
