If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to pitch up to a coffee meeting in a supercar, Uber Cape Town may just be able to give you an inkling this Friday.
The ridesharing service has partnered with McLaren and GQ South Africa to allow Uber users to ride in a McLaren 650S. The best part? It’s free.

The car will be cruising the streets from 12 to 3PM on Friday. Uber reckons demand for the car will be high and suggests that users keep trying if they don’t get it first time.
There are a few caveats to how the supecar service can be used though. According to Uber:
- Trips are limited to a maximum distance of 5km
- The McLaren 650S accommodates only ONE passenger at a time
- Successful requesters are limited to one trip only
To get picked up by the 650S, you need to open up the Uber app and enter the McLaren promo code. That’ll take you to a unique view where you can oggle over to the UberMcLaren icon and request a ride as you normally would.
If the car is available, it’ll pick you up at your location as usual.
